Let’s celebrate the Pumpkin!
Our Pumpkin Day went down a storm yesterday! We had a fantastic day and of course it was all about the Pumpkin!
Mark was busy carving out our Sumo and Howdy Big Boy pumpkins on the night and produced some fantastic displays including one with our very own Gregg Wallace’s face! He still has a lot to do (as our collection of pumpkins keeps growing!) and we will be adding to our display over the next week, ready for Halloween on 31st October. So come and check them out.
Craig was also busy creating some delicious pumpkin dishes. Here is just a selection of them:
Creamy pumpkin soup
Baked goats cheese, pumpkin and rocket salad
Roasted pumpkin and thyme quiche
Spaghetti, roast pumpkin and goats cheese cream
Grilled chicken, pumpkin mash and bacon gravy
Spicy pumpkin crumble
The families of Putney came out in full force to help us get our day going. We’re not quite sure who enjoyed it more – the kids or their Moms and Dads! Also, photography students from Putney Arts School decided to come and visit us to. They took some smashing pictures and we’ll obviously post them as soon as can.
Finally we had even more entries for our Sumo Pumpkin competition, where if you guess the correct weight, you win it. We still have a few more days before the competition closes, so come down and have a go.

Our Pumpkin Day 21st October 2010
Halloween is creeping upon us and in true Wallace and Co style we have decided it is all about our pumpkins!
On Thursday 21st October we are having our giant Sumo and Howdy Big Boy Pumpkins carved by professional artist Mark McNamara. We have been busy designing some unusual carvings such as our very own Gregg Wallace’s face!
Mark has also kindly offered his creative touch to you too. You too can have your very own carved pumpkin. Simply bring in a photograph on our Pumpkin Day (or we can take one for you) and he’ll cleverly transfer your picture into a real carving on your very own pumpkin. We’ll make sure you get it time for Halloween on 31st October. Prices start from £10.
On the day you can also choose your very own pumpkin from our Pumpkin Patch. All of our pumpkins are handpicked by Vernon on our farm to ensure you get the very best in town!
Craig will also be busy preparing some delicious dishes and our menu will be all things pumpkin – from delicious quiches, tarts and soups to mouth watering puddings!
Finally, it will be one of your last chances to enter our Sumo Pumpkin competition. If you guess the weight, you win it! We have already had over a 1000 entries but we sure don’t mind a few more!
